What is this?
The Recent Forum Posts Declutterer is a Tampermonkey script that lets you filter out posts from the "Recent Forum Posts" page on Wikidot sites if they contain certain words or phrases. By default, the blacklist filters out some terms commonly used on 05command and the SCP Wiki, but you can add or remove terms to your liking.
How do I work this?
The script itself is extremely simple and feature-light, which hopefully means it's also free of major bugs. The comments on the script itself contain details on the technical implementation, but you don't need to worry about that. The only part you need to interact with is the "dontCareAbout" variable, which is a bracketed list of terms whose presence anywhere in a post will trigger that post's excision from Recent Forum Posts. To add your own, make sure that they're contained within quotation marks "" and separated by commas ,, with no comma after the very last term.
Does it work on mobile?
I don't know. Maybe. I haven't tested it on mobile, or in fact, on any browser other than desktop Firefox.
Any plans for the future?
I might implement an optional "whitelist" mode, where instead of hides all posts that include one or more user-defined unwanted strings, it hides all posts that don't include that string. Letting people use Regex as blacklist terms is also a possibility.
Anything that would involve adding visual elements to Wikidot is off the table because I don't want to open that can of worms, and any implementation of a more user-friendly interface is off the table for ideological reasons. Get comfortable using a text editor! It builds character!
